My first stop...
Before I lived here, my first stop off the plane was for a swim in the sea. Always Binigaus on the south coast to wash the journey away.
Describe the island in three words...
Beautiful, Relaxing, Inspiring
I always make time to...
Watch the sunset. From the moment the light changes I pay attention to the sky.
What do you think is the best thing about living in Menorca?
That you walk from the countryside, through the forest and arrive at a beach.
Where to go for an adventure?
The fiestas! They are without doubt one of the greatest adventures to have. Everyone there is united in in the moment by a shared love of the music, dancing and horses!
If you’re looking for adventure at at sea try freediving with the incredible underwater photographer Victor de Valles @victordevalles. I had such a great time, the photos he took were stunning and something I will treasure forever. I’m thinking about booking my next session again soon!
A relaxation tip...
See the island by boat. Take the stress out of having a long walk to a cala not accessible by car and get a sea taxi there, Menorca Taximar @menorcataximar drop you off and pick you up - perfect! No walking with all of your stuff in the heat and you get to arrive in style!
An unmissable view...
The island has so many! But a personal favourite is Cape Cavalleria Lighthouse (Faro de Cavalleria) on the north coast. Watching the sunset there feels like time stands still, it’s magical day or night.
An insider secret...
Winter on the island is absolutely wonderful. Menorca is so much more than beaches and calas. I love the outdoors and country life - dog walking and horse riding, so Menorca is perfect for that. My pup would run for miles on deserted beaches during the winter months and swim in the sea, it was one of her favourite things to do.
My favourite thing about the island is...
That it is so unspoilt. It’s well protected being a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and the Menorquins are very proud of their island and quite rightly so. I count myself very lucky to call Menorca home and share in the pride and love for the island.
Favourite restaurant...
The island’s gastronomic scene is incredible, there are so many places to choose from. For Solomillo I head straight to Mesón El Gallo, Ferreries set on the terrace of ‘Son Martorellet’, a Menorquin finca over 200 years old. Also Cas Cònsol for stunning views overlooking the port of Ciutadella.
Best place to stay...
The island has a stunning choice of boutique and rural hotels but my top picks are; Mahon - Jardí de Ses Bruixes @sesbruixesboutiquehotel
Ciutadella - Can Araya @hotelcanaraya
Countryside - Rafal Rubí @rafal.rubi
